South of Knoxville the map runs out into water: Louisville sits on the northern edge of Blount County on Fort Loudoun Lake, with 2.14 of the town’s 17.05 square miles water rather than land, and the lake is not old — Fort Loudoun Dam opened in August 1943 and the reservoir submerged part of the town, so what had been a flatboat and steamboat port on the Tennessee River came back as a lakeside one. Blount County has the storm record to take a leaning tree seriously. On April 27, 2011 the Weather Service confirmed an EF0 here it named for Louisville itself, and the same evening an EF4 a quarter of a mile wide crossed Chilhowee Lake at the county line at 170 miles an hour, snapped a steel transmission tower and went on into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. One thing said plainly: this is the far side of the metro from us, and a job down here crosses the whole city from Maynardville. Call 865-360-6685, tell us what you are looking at, and we will be straight with you about whether we are the right crew for it.
