# A maple pulled back off a house and a fence

Powell · July 2026

A large maple in the back yard had grown into two things at once — the house on one side, the neighboring fence line on the other. It was a sound tree. It was simply in contact with a building.

Both numbers went on the page: trim it back, or take it out. Removal is the bigger job and the bigger price, and it was quoted plainly so the choice was a real one. The trim is what was done.

The work went off the lift. Limbs on the house side had to be cut and lowered clear rather than dropped, and the fence on the far side left no open ground to work into. Brush went through the chipper. All of the hardwood was hauled off site.

An old stump sat on the side of the house, left from something earlier. That was flush-cut while the crew was there, at no charge. It took a few minutes and it was in the way of a mower.

The front yard trees were looked at and left for later. Trimming them in mid-July was the wrong call, so that was set aside to be revisited in the fall rather than done on the same visit for the sake of one invoice.
