## Which one do you actually need?

Most people call us knowing something is wrong with a tree and not much more than that. That is fine. The four things below cover nearly all of it, and if you are not sure which one you are looking at, describe it on the phone and we will tell you.

## What happens on an estimate visit

One of the three of us drives out. Not a salesman, not a subcontractor.

1. We walk the property with you and look at the tree from the ground, from the drive, and from wherever it would have to fall.
2. We check what is underneath and around it — septic field, power lines, water line, fence, roof, drive, pool, the neighbour’s side of the line. These are written down on the estimate, because they change the method more than the tree does.
3. We work out how it comes down: climbed, or from a lift, or felled whole if there is genuinely room.
4. We tell you what we would do about the debris, and ask what you want done with the wood.
5. You get a written number covering the whole job, cleanup included. What we quote is what you pay.

It is free, there is no obligation, and we do not ask for anything up front. If we think the tree should stay, we will say so — that has happened, and those jobs are on this site too.

## How we price the work

We do not publish prices for a tree we have not seen, and anyone who quotes you one over the phone without asking what is around it is guessing. What we can tell you is what moves the number.

- **What is underneath it** — A tree with clear ground under it is the cheapest job on the list. A tree over a roof, a fence line, a septic field or a line has to come down in controlled pieces on ropes, and that is time.
- **Whether a machine can reach it** — A lift in the back yard is faster and safer than a climber. A gate too narrow for the lift, a steep gravel drive, or ground too soft to carry the weight sends the job back up the tree.
- **The ground itself** — Slope, soft spots and retaining walls all change what can be driven where. On one job the ground was too wet to work until summer, and the estimate said so.
- **Where the debris goes** — Chipped on site, hauled off, or cut to length and left for a stove — these are genuinely different amounts of work, and you choose.
- **How many trees** — Several trees on one visit cost less each than the same trees over three visits, because most of the cost is setup.

## What "licensed and insured" actually means here

It is worth being specific, because the phrase gets used loosely in this trade.

- We carry liability insurance, and proof of insurance is available on request — ask, and we will send it before the work starts.
- We are registered with the State of Tennessee, and we hold a Union County business licence.
- We are not certified arborists and we do not claim to be. What we bring is years of doing this work, the equipment to do it safely, and cuts made the way they should be made.
- If a tree is on a power line, that is the utility’s call before it is ours. We will tell you to ring them first.

The reason this matters: if an uninsured crew drops a limb through your roof, it is your homeowner’s claim and your premium. That is the single largest difference between two numbers that look close on paper.
